I have two social media pet peeves *read: huge rage inducing irritants*
Commence rant.
The first is Four Square - just checked in at the McDonalds on so and so street. To the people who use it: I don't care. I don't care where you are at every moment of the day. My universe does not revolve around your day. I am not your stalker, nor do I want the position. Honey, I hate to break it to you, but you're not that important and this is making you think you are...which is not becoming. More so, it's making you think that you're entitled to things like jumping the line, getting free stuff, and not paying cover fees/tickets prices. Guess what? The line starts back there around the corner, pay for your own crap, and fork over the entrance fees like every other regular person. You are not Brangelina, no one cares that you're at Starbucks. I don't even care if Brangelina were at Starbucks. Get off Four Square.
The second thing is posting pictures of your food/drink. I'm not talking about the exotic stuff. If you're eating monkey brains where ever in the world it is that they eat monkey brains, yes post that please! Or if you're giving me a recipe along with it, sure, show me a picture of what it's supposed to look like. But I honestly don't care about seeing a picture of your cereal, granola, or your first cup of coffee. And that roast chicken, yeah I've seen a chicken before, your point is? Again, it's giving you a false sense of self-importance and entitlement.
Thank you.
End rant.
True Story:
Rants must run in the family because Baby stands on her stool in the sun room heckling and talking at the people walking by.
Note to self: stop posting pictures of my detox food.
ReplyDeleteAlso? I hate Foursquare. I was all about it for about a month & then I realized it was totally pointless.
Baby is so cute! N has a stool she stand on, too. ;)
i know a lot of bloggers/internet personalities that have lost weight or kept the weight off maintenance after a successful weight loss journey, by keeping a food journal of sorts via their twitter feeds, tumblr, or similar. It's a way to, in essence, "count calories" without the numbers (which often times, numbers trigger v. OCD tendencies in people, don’t you think?) Perhaps a way to be mindful of what they are eating and keep themselves accountable knowing that SOMEONE ELSE is seeing what they are eating, which makes old bad habits and struggles, like binging, at bay.
ReplyDeleteI hope you simply unfollow the people whose social media usage pet peeves you. [I am a firm believer that if we don’t like something, it’s our decision to simply stop feeding it to ourselves!] I think some people are really using these things to better their lives!
xo
Heather,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment, and yes I've heard the same thing and that's a wonderful way to use social media. That's not at all what I'm addressing - there's a clear and wise choice behind that behavior.
What I'm talking about is not people who have a goal, purpose or any other logical and useful use - they just do it for the heck of it because they think we care.
Sincerely,
Joanna
@MamaMarchand
ReplyDeleteHope you weren't offended by my rant - and just to be clear you are not a person I'm addressing. You've got a goal and a clear distinct purpose - and I actually admire you for putting something personal like that out there for everyone to see your success or failure (hopefully success!!!! I'm rooting for you). I'm talking about the people who post food pics all the time of the stupid stuff they eat all the time just because - and there are more than you think there are.
Joanna
You've just gained my respect X100000. Thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteguilty!! i'm a food picture taker!
ReplyDeletei don't think it says anything about me other than the fact that i like food.
@melissa Fair enough.
