Garbage Meltdowns

30.5.13

Dress - Ruche  //  Jacket - Old Navy  //  Necklace & Hat - F21  //  Boots - Feet First

A box arrived for my husband.  Inside there was an item - which is not relevant for our purposes - that was packed with that styrofoam popcorn stuff.  Baby Girl saw this and wanted to play with it desperately.  Us, being the ever diligent parents aware of choking hazards and other things, said, "No, honey.  It's garbage."  At which point, while Andrew went out to throw it in the garbage, I was left with a tantrum induced toddler screaming repeatedly at the top of her lungs, " I want garbage!"

Not moments later all was right with the world and she was happily prancing about again.  Ah, the unpredictable pendulum that is the 2 year old psyche.

  1. oh dear. When my nephew was four, (or three? hard to remember) he had just learned the physical difference between boys and girls (he has a sister and I think he wondered why she didn't have what he did, or something)

well, for a solid week he went around in public saying "you are a boy!! you have a penis!! like me!!" hah ha. I still remember this and chuckle.

I wish you had that on film, your daughter wanting garbage, because I'm sure she'll get a kick out of it when shes a teenager.

    1. We're there as well. She's about about, "Daddy Penis, Mommy gina!"

  2. Hang in there Joanna, she will mature eventually. Personally, I don't like those packing peanuts. I love those big air pillows in stead, you just pop them and they are like any old plastic bag. Cute pic with you laughing with your Baby Girl.

    1. Thanks! We had a good time looking for bugs. And yeah, I prefer those air bags too - easier to dispose of I think.

  3. Kids, huh? Penny wants nothing more than to eat rocks off the ground sometimes...

    1. Luckily, she hasn't eaten rocks yet. She does however have a fascination with pointing out every drop of poop we see on a walk.

  6. Don't you just love how quickly two year olds can move on? I wish I moved on that quickly but no such luck. You are gorgeous as always and this dress is stunning! Xoxo

    1. They have this amazing ability to let the past be the past. I wish we didn't lose that as we got older. We could be so much more forgiving of our own faults that way.

  7. Love putting big floppy hats on my little girl for photo opps. She likes it too, accompanied by her plush snake that she wears as a scarf. Couldn't help but laugh (totally getting where you're coming from) about the garbage incident. Kids are funny.

    1. Yeah, it's cute! But actually it's her that's insistent on wearing my hat in the backyard. Can't get her to take it off, but I'm fine with that - more sun protection. Glad I could make you laugh *mission accomplished!*
