What Rules?! : Mixed Metals

24.10.13

Sweater - Cotton Candy   // Skirt - Uncle Phuncle c/o Emerging Thoughts  //  Coat - UO  //  Tights - Hansel From Basel  //  Boots - Feet First  //  Leaf Necklace - I forget  //  Pearl necklace - Ruche  //  Purple Chain - bought in Spain  //  Right Hand Bracelet - F21  // Left Hand Bracelet - made by me

The link up was a bit of a failure.  I think that means you guys just want some inspiration.  Which is totally cool with me!  So I'm going to continue breaking fashion rules, and if you'd like to join me leave your link in the comments and I'll be sure to check them out.  'Cause I love seeing what you do too.

Next week I'm breaking a rule from the 50's that said you should never wear high heels with cropped pants.  Apparently the connotation was that you were more than a bit promiscuous.  So I'm breakin' that rule next week before it gets too cold to do so.

  1. what a pretty green sweater :) I love your link ups, but I don't wear make up so I didn't do the last one, and I forgot about today :P

  2. Oh okay. Please let me know if it rolls in the future. I'm taking a chance and starting up a Blog Hop tomorrow. It will be "Fashion Item Friday". The item for me on my first post will be Fishnet Tights. You can talk about an item or fashion or friday; all 3 are up for grabs. LOL My Friday posts needs a shot in the arm so thought this couldn't hurt. I'm talking it up today to get those involved tomorrow. I love mixing metals especially now since gold has made a scene again. For the past 15 years, all I have worn is silver; fake or real and having gold be so strong lately has caused me to mix. It is still a bit difficult to consciously do it, however. Keep smiling!

    1. Thank so much for participating so loyally. It was very nice to see you each week. And furthermore, you did a great job at breaking the rules. I saw your post today, and if you do decide to break the rules with me, please do leave the link as a comment, I would love to see :)

  3. I just wanted to pop in and let you know not to get too discouraged with your link ups. I totally understand how you feel. Almost a year ago, I started a bi-weekly link up I call "Mission Weeks". I announce a week ahead of time what the Mission is and allow the link up to go up for over a week after Mission Week ends. It took months and months for me to even get ONE link up and I never understood why. I have a lot of followers and most of them are legit loyal followers that I was sure would be on board. But for some reason, not a lot of people linked up. It was really discouraging at first for sure. But I still do it and add the link ups. I don't know why--I just never lost hope I guess. And, it was more of a "for me", inspirational gesture anyway, so I just try to keep it at that. I know how it feels though. I do hope that, however it works out for you, it works out. I am not sure if you have ever visited my blog, though I have commented here quite a few times and followed you for a long time, but sometimes it just is what it is, you know? I like the break the rules idea and I hope you continue with it--no matter how you decide to do it.

    1. Thanks for your words of support. I'm not discouraged. Failure doesn't bother me because the only way to succeed is to fail and fail over and over again until one idea sticks. So yeah, it doesn't really bother me. Some things work out, others don't. As for your blog, I do read it. Regularily. I'm just not very good at commenting. One of those things I'm still working on :) But you look darling in your recent post with the mint sequined jacket :)

  4. Oh my gosh, I love this so much. This is such a perfect fall look, and the color combination is perfection. This is my first time visiting your blog (and I love it), but I'm sorry to hear about the link-up! Hopefully the next one you do will be better :)

    1. Thanks! And I'm not too concerned. If it didn't work out. it's not a big deal. Putting it all in perspective you know?
