Two Pairs of Shoes

23.5.13

Dress - English Rose *from Ruche, I think*  //  Clutch - H&M  //  Shoes - Call It Spring

I went to the launch party of a historic event in Canada - the Independent Web Series Creator's of Canada.  It was an absolutely great time, and if you're in Canada you want to be a part of this organization.  So here I am all dressed up for the night.  I love how easy and loose this dress is.  Plus, I'm really loving mint green right now.

But here's the real story I want to share with you.  In that clutch you see right at this very moment hides a pair of flats.  See I plan ahead.  After hours and hours in these gorgeous pink heels my feet were killing me.  I wasn't about to spend time traveling home in pain.

As I rode the metro, I was accompanied by three teenagers who were out for the night too.  The young woman was leaning on her boyfriend because her feet hurt from her shoes.  He turned to her, just as I was passing them on the stairs, and said, "Why don't you girls bring two pairs of shoes when you go out?"  Then as I passed I knew he pointed at me, and so I turned around and gave them a knowing smile while I gestured to the heels hanging off my fingers.

Yup, it's  all about the two pairs of shoes.

    1. I don't often wear them either. But my big mistake was that these are brand new and not broken in. That's a biggie.

      Thanks for writing and reading.

    2. I found a pair of commuter flats at Target right before a military function in the winter. They folded up into a small bag and slipped into my clutch. Best purchase ever. They were super light and easy to carry.

    3. That's exactly it. I need it because at the end of the night the last thing I want to do is commute home in high heels.

    1. Thanks Kendra. And isn't it the greatest thing ever? I just bought a pair of $8 F21 silver flat sandals, and they're perfect for traveling home.

  3. I absolutely love this dress! So fresh and light.

I try to wear heels often. Mostly because I have an extremely short stature. (I'm barely 5 ft tall)

I would never have considered pairing these shoes with mint. But I love it!!

    1. Thank you. I love heels, I just often feel afraid to wear them when I'm alone with Baby Girl 'cause I think to myself, "If she darts out into the street into oncoming traffic I want to be able to dart out just as quick to get her." I know crazy Mom.

  4. That's such a great idea. I hardly never wear heels (not so easy chasing a toddler in them) but then when I do, my feet always hurt and I have no replacement!

    1. Agreed! That's why I usually don't wear heel. But when I'm going out solo I like to spiff things up sometimes. Especially in the summer when it's not icy on the ground.

    1. Thanks Kelly. Yeah, I love a hint of vintage too. But just a hint, too much and it feels costumey on me.

  16. I have been in love with mint colour since , umm I am not sure but it became 2013's colour obsession ;)
Girl , believe me I'd do anything if red carpet style would allow sneakers instead of heels.

  17. Haha, I sometimes take 2 pairs of shoes out with me, mostly though I wear shoes that I know will not hurt with me. I refuse to go barefoot!

I love this outfit, the shoes are a stunning colour.

    1. Thank you. I try to do that, but sometimes I just have to have that second pair. Plus, when commuting late at night I feel safer in flats. Just a thing - I feel if I can run fast I'm safer.

  18. Great pop of colour. I am a second pair kinda girl too. Amazing that they fit so snuggly in your clutch. Need to get some of those ballet slippers that are all squishy for that purpose. Thanks for sharing!

    1. They are pretty much flat as a piece of cardboard, so they squish down nicely.
